Don't worry about the word "Code". You won't write any code. You type normal sentences, the same way you'd message a helpful assistant.
You never open these yourself. Claude sets them up in the one-time setup below and uses them for you whenever you ask for an edit. For Wispr, start your free month with my link above.
Claude needs a few free tools on your computer to cut video and make subtitles. You only do this once. Copy the message below, paste it into Claude (Code tab), and press Enter.
I'm not technical. Please set up everything my computer needs so you can edit short videos for me: a tool to cut video (FFmpeg), a tool to make subtitles (Whisper) and a tool to add text and graphics (HyperFrames). Explain each step in simple words before you do it, and test that everything works at the end.
Claude will ask your permission before installing anything. Read what it says, then click Allow. When it says everything works, you're ready.
One take is fine. Mistakes and pauses are fine too, because Claude cuts them out.
Get the original file from your phone onto your computer, at full quality.
Don't send it through WhatsApp. WhatsApp shrinks videos to about a third of their size, and the finished reel will look blurry. If someone sends you a video by WhatsApp, ask them to send it again "as a document".
Claude listens to your video and writes down every word, with the time each one is spoken.
Drag your video file into the Claude chat box, then send this:
Here is my raw video. Please write out everything I say, with timings. My name is your name, and these words are often misheard: your brand, product or people's names. Here is the script I read from: paste your script, if you have one
Before any editing, Claude shows you a plan with 3 different options, so you choose the look before anything is made.
Create a storyboard for this raw video. Give me 3 different options to choose from, using real pictures from my video and my real words. Keep the finished video under 60 seconds.
Optional, and powerful: show Claude a creator whose style you like, and it will study their videos first.
Before the storyboard, study the videos of paste the creator's TikTok or Instagram link. Tell me what makes them work (how they start, how the text looks, how they end), then use those techniques in my options. Don't copy their words.
This is the part that used to take hours. Now you describe it in one message and let Claude work.
Go with option A, B or C. Please: - cut out the pauses and the "ums" - add easy-to-read subtitles - use my brand colours your colours and fonts your fonts, if you know them - end with this call to action: e.g. Comment START and I'll send you the guide - make it vertical for TikTok and Reels, with the sound loud enough for TikTok Save the finished video in my Downloads folder.
Claude checks a lot, but only you can tell whether it feels right. Always watch it once before posting.
I watched it. Please make the subtitles bigger, cut the part at 0:20 where I repeat myself, and change the last line to "Link in bio".
The cover is the picture people see on your profile. The caption is the text under your post.
Drag in a photo of yourself, then send this:
Make a cover image for this video using my photo and these words: a short headline, e.g. "Video editing. Done in 30 minutes." Make sure the words still show on my profile grid. Then write 3 caption options with 5 hashtags for an audience in Singapore, and recommend one.
Keep the cover words short, 8 words at most. On your profile, the cover shows up as a small square, so long text becomes unreadable.
A quick checklist so nothing goes wrong after you post.
Once you're happy with a video, ask Claude to remember the whole process as a "skill". Next time, you type one short command instead of all these messages. This is exactly what I did.
Turn everything we just did into a skill called video-editing, using my brand colours and my usual call to action. Next time I want to type /video-editing and drop in my raw video.
No. You type normal sentences. Claude does the technical work and asks your permission before it changes anything on your computer.
You need a paid Claude plan (Pro or above). FFmpeg and HyperFrames are free. Wispr has a free month through my referral link, then its own plans.
The video file stays on your computer, and the editing happens there. Claude reads the words you say and looks at a few still pictures from the video so it can plan and check the edit.
You film on your phone, but the editing needs a computer, because that's where the tools are installed.
The first time, allow about an hour, including the setup and getting used to it. After that, about 30 minutes per video. Most of that time Claude is working and you're just reviewing.
Tell it, in plain words: "the subtitle at 0:15 is wrong, I said dread, not drag". It fixes it and makes the video again. Always watch the final version once before you post.
